Hare Among the Chips

In this painting, the hare doesn’t sit neatly in the middle of the canvas, clearly outlined, but instead peeks out from between the wood chips of the OSB board – almost as if it had always been hiding there. That’s just the hare’s nature: it lives by its instincts, ears pricked, legs ready to spring away the moment the forest makes a wrong sound.

The chip-textured surface makes the hare seem almost like a vanishing figure. It appears, flickers into view, and then blends right back into its surroundings – just like in real life, when you spot a hare at the edge of a field and, in the blink of an eye, it’s already gone.

Here, the hare is half visible and half hidden – like a game: will you find it first?
